Collection: Jean Varon
The genius behind Jean Varon was known as John Bates, who thought 'Jean Varon' sounded more French and sophisticated which suited the label more. Always dramatic, Varon won the Dress of the Year in 1965 for a cutting edge, futuristic mesh and linen dress around the time he designed the costumes for Emma Peel in 'The Avengers'. His designs in the 70s were more ethereal and feminine but no less showstopping. The Jean Varon label is particularly interesting at the moment as, though not as well-known outside of fashion circles as his contemporaries, his work is getting increasingly more noticed and collectible.
