Orange Draped Plunge Neck Kaftan Dress, 1970s
An absolutely breathtaking vintage women's kaftan dress from the 70s by incredible Japanese born designer, Gnyuki Torimaru. Known for his genius use of draping in exquisite jerseys, Yuki's designs are in museums all over the world, including the V&A and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and was worn by the likes of Bianca Jagger, Princess Diana and Jerry Hall.
This dress is a fantastic example of his talent, in a luxurious orange jersey with fantastic fluidity and drape with a deep plunging neckline and gathers at the front. With a beautifully draped look that is pulled in at the waist by an elasticated inner waistband to give a more flattering silhouette inspired by an Asian kimono or a Grecian gown. It would be perfect worn in the day, at a wedding or on vacation but would also look stunning worn in the evening at a party.
Estimated Modern Size: XS to Medium due to stretch of inner waistband and kaftan silhouette. Please check measurements.
