Joseph Ephraim Casely-Hayford was known for his experimental designs, first creating clothing from ww2 tents under his 'Kit' label, and was awarded with an OBE for his services to fashion. Celebrity clients also loved his designs, Bono was the first man to feature on Vogue magazine in an iconic cover wearing a jacket by Casely-Hayford alongside Christy Turlington and Jarvis Cocker, Benedict Cumberbatch and The Clash also wore his designs. Although this early shirt was designed by himself, he later designed alongside his son Charlie Casely-Hayford and these earlier pieces are in museums such as the V&A and Museum of London.
