Embroidered Appliqué Shirt, 1990s
A rare 1990s vintage Jean Paul Gaultier deconstructed avant garde shirt, perfect for autumn, with a belt to pull in the waist at the bottom with a loose fit on top. In a soft wool with a luxurious black leather trim. This is a true deconstructed piece of wearable art, with a real Dadaism inspiration. The front of the shirt is embroidered on a white (or very pale off white), sheer mesh fabric with a nonchalant, unfinished style and long black threads trail from the hair, while one eye is embellished with sequin details which creates an asymmetrical design. The lips are silk appliquéd which curls up creating a beautiful textured effect. The bottom and collar of the shirt have the same long threads artfully trailing downwards adding to the undone, deconstructed feel.
