Oriental Inspired Chiffon and Satin Peplum Evening Gown, 1970s
An incredible vintage evening gown from the 1970's by genius and increasingly collectible vintage British designer, Jean Varon (aka John Bates). With wide, almost kimono style sleeves in a black chiffon, with a satin trim which almost gives an oriental feel.
The neckline is cut square, showing off the décolletage, making the dress incredibly sexy whilst still having a refined class. The dress then flares out at the peplum which gives a feminine, hourglass shape andthen into a long, flowing skirt which has such incredible movement. This masterpiece really epitomises the luxe bohemian aesthetic that Jean Varon was best known for in the 1970's but with an almost vampy colour palette.
